The groups listed below work to bring these values to life. This means not only equal voting power in determining the outcome of elections, but it also means more representation in the legislatures that make our laws, set our budgets, and determine our priorities.

Black Lives Matter Houston

Black Lives Matter Houston addresses issues affecting the Black community, collaborating with “partners to build a healthy, educated and financially stable Black community.” Their 2021 areas of focus included criminal justice reform, housing and homelessness, education, food access, and health care.

With chapters in North Central Texas and Houston, the mission of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is “to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.” Their Texas Muslims Vote website is a hub for information and empowering the community during elections. They offer educational talks to schools, universities, community groups, and religious institutions.
